HOW TO MAIL
A LETTER TO BE DELIVERED BY
THE NAVAJO COUNTY HASHKNIFE POSSE'S
2015 PONY EXPRESS RIDE

The ride takes place each year the last week of January.

The Hashknife Posse has the longest continuous contract with the U. S. Postal Service to carry official U. S. Mail via Pony Express. The group is sworn in as official U. S. Mail carriers prior to departing Holbrook on the 200-mile trip across the Mogollon Rim into Scottsdale. The ride has been repeated each year since 1958.

YOU CAN MAIL YOUR LETTER/LETTERS ANY TIME DURING THE YEAR.

INSTRUCTIONS

You can either purchase a Pony Express Mailer from the visitors desk or at the Holbrook Post Office, or you may use your own envelope. Address as usual. Affix the proper amount of postage. In the lower left hand corner of the envelope, write “Via Pony Express” Drop the letter into the official “Pony Express container at the Museum/Visitor Center in Holbrook, Arizona

You can also mail your letter from home by addressing the same as above. Then put this addressed envelope into another envelope and address it to: Postmaster, Holbrook, AZ 86025 and mail.

When you receive your Pony Express letter it will be stamped with the official Pony Express cachet and canceled with the official Hashknife Station cancellation mark. This letter is a keepsake treasured by many collectors around the world.
